新學(xué)期，我部首次升旗儀式于本周一在三樓多功能廳舉行。本次活動由作為學(xué)姐、學(xué)長的十二年級同學(xué)薛韻揚和水霖主持。

在莊嚴的升旗儀式和黃文光老師的周三籃球賽宣講后，唐妍文同學(xué)進行關(guān)于規(guī)則意識的演講，讓大家感受到規(guī)則的重要性，并呼喚每個人努力成為道德覺醒者，為個人的幸福和社會的美好不懈奮斗！

Good morning, dear teachers and students. My name is Jill from Grade 12 class 1. Today I will emphasize on the need of rules. We can define rules as a set of guidelines which has been established in all countries and communities and has been accepted by all.

Rules are important tool to guide and monitor the interactions between people in a given society. There are rules that are considered informal like the ones that are set in a home or schools. Breaking these rules or guidelines will result in consequences. As you all know, you need to go to 323 to talk with Ms. Lynn or contact Mr. V who is still in the US. Rules are made to keep people safe and protect ourselves and our environment. If you just look at all the traffic regulations and protections for the endangered animals like pandas, you’ll see why they are set in place. Just imagine how many dangerous accidents will happen if everyone just decided to disregard or not to obey the rules. As the saying goes, ignorance of the law is no excuse. Is there a society or institution that is not govern by rules of conduct? Even in the animal kingdom there is a ruler and rules. Remember if you break the law, you face the consequences of your actions. Let’s be law abiding everywhere we find ourselves.

Since we are in school I will emphasize more on school rules and why the need. For example, rules are used in schools in order to promote discipline and trust, in a bid to provide a peaceful learning environment for the students as the desired result. If there would have no rules in school & in our day to day life, then there would have no difference between Humans & Animals.

Now coming down to our school life, the word “UNI” means ONE, just like Mr. Wattrus has mentioned last week. It represents working as a team and sharing equal benefits as a team. As a student, I also understand that how you guys dislike the uniforms, I don’t like them either. However, I like to encourage us all to make a conscious effort to wear the uniforms as the school request of us because at the end of the day it enhances uniformity and decency and sells the good the name of the school to the public . Notwithstanding that, we as students should pay heed to the rest of the school rules in order to maintain a healthy environment for an effective study life. And a quick reminder for the new students, if anyone violated the regulations, there would be a “nice” conversation with Ms. Lynn in Room 301 or Mr. V who is still in the US.

All rules and regulations are designed to protect the lives of all individuals. These guidelines show a community member what is right to do and to what extent. As time goes, new rules are needed or old ones are changed in order to fit the present state of the society.

Without rules, any country or society will not be able to function in any way. “Think twice before you complain, give more than you ask for, do what makes you happy and enjoy life.” No matter what you do, you must follow rules. Let’s be law abiding everywhere we find ourselves.
